Kidbits

Just have to get a couple things written down before they escape my very forgetful mind...

• While at the dinner table a few nights ago, Brody asked very frankly "Shit is a bad word?". This led to a lengthy discussion about bad words and how if you use them at school or a friends' house you could get into trouble. Abe went on further to explain that Mommmy and Daddy try not to say bad words but occasionally slip up when we get angry or upset about something. Abe said "for example, you might hear Daddy say 'shit' if Bruno ate my underwear". To which Brody replied rather emphatically "actually Daddy, you might say 'HOLY shit' if Bruno ate your underwear!". Then things just got horribly silly as everyone took turns at "holy" this, that and the other until we had worked our way off  the subject.

• Speaking of bad words, last Saturday morning the boys were watching cartoons in the living room while Abe and I laid in bed a little longer in an attempt to milk every minute out of "sleeping in" as possible. I could hear most of the boys' discussion and part of it went like this....Brody: "Shucks is a bad word?" Zane: "Shucks isn't a bad word. Remember on Micky Mouse Clubhouse, Goofy says 'shucks'. It's a kid-friendly word." Brody (very much convinced): "Ohhh"
