After seeing Dr. Crisp today the plan is to keep Zane on the Zonegran (150mg/day), continue reducing the Trileptal for another week (then we're done with it) and add Chlorazapate for a week. The Chlorazapate will hopefully control the clusters (several seizures in a short amount of time) while the Zonegran is still working up in Zane's system. I expect the new drug to make Zane drowsy so this next week will be interesting. We will probably see the slurred speech and unsteadiness continue for at least another week according to the doctor. Zane goes back for a follow-up on the 7th.

Dallas AM News article 7/31/07 Chief Justice John Roberts suffered a seizure at his vacation home on Mon. in Maine causing a fall that resulted in minor scrapes. He remained hospitalized overnight. A thorough neurolgical evaluation revealed no cause for concern. Doctor's called Mon. incident "a benign idiopathic seizure". The article also states he had a similar episode in 1993 and that was called "isolated idiosyncratic seizure". There are other tidbits in this news report, but I felt it poignant that a man in the capacity of Chief John Roberts has carried on a full life battling these episodes. My hope is the doctors can regulate Zane's medications in a manner so the little boy you know & love inside him comes out in a more normal state.
