Our First Weekend in Seoul

Yesterday we went and checked out the COEX Aquarium. I took a lot of pictures so I don't have those ready to share yet. We also experienced the Seoul subway system for the first time. We made it to our destination without ever getting on the wrong train but I wouldn't say the journey went seamlessly. In all honesty, things were running smoothly until Brody said he had to go potty during our transfer from one line to another. We weren't aware of any restroom facilities down below so Abe and Brody exited. From there things got a little patchy and extra money was spent. Fortunately, the subway is really cheap to ride (less than a buck per passenger). All in all, it was a pleasant experience. Considering how enormous their system is, it is fairly easy to navigate.

Just to prove to ourselves we could handle the subway (without any glitches), we gave it another shot today. Destination: Samsung Children's Museum. The museum was nice and the kids found plenty of activities to keep them entertained. I've updated our collection of photos with a new album from today.

The closest station to our hotel is about a 10 minute walk. We pass this playground along the way...

Right beside the playground is this exercise area with several machines...

The boys had as much or more fun in this area than they did the playground.

Since we played through lunch time we were hungry coming out of the museum but didn't know the area well enough to find a restaurant. Fortunately we found a few street vendors to help us out...

This was some crazy kind of corn dog. We don't know what it's called but it appeared to be double dipped. It really doesn't appeal to me at all but the boys shared one as a snack.

Back on the subway, headed home. These ladies (and a third one not pictured) were very affectionate toward the boys. They insisted they sit in the elderly/disabled/pregnant section with them. They didn't speak English but were full of warm, friendly smiles. At one point Zane was discussing his gameboy Zelda game with the lady on his left.

And poor Brody was so tired he just cuddled right up with the lady on his right and took a little nap.
